No Power, No Water: Emergency at Rio Momon
Drought conditions in the upper Amazon caused the quebrada which had been providing water for Rio Momon to dry up. This quickly led to emergency conditions – the bulls alone require lots of water. Even more when it's dry out.
Working with villagers to ferry jugs of water from deeper in the jungle, a great effort protected the Boys from dehydration.
Plans to dig a well were derailed when the workers abandoned the job.
John reports that the well has now been dug. But the pumps in place were no longer sufficient; soon the generator exploded. Borka and one of the workers were standing nearby; we are all very grateful that no one was injured.
Replacement equipment has been identified, but will require $800. Please consider making a donation to help restore fresh, clean water to all the creatures who call Rio Momon home.
Thank you!
